Introduction to Calligraphy

This workshop gives an introduction and overview to the lettering arts, including where it has been and how it is used today. The Italic alphabet is a base for learning good letter forms, especially for good cursive writing. Workshop participants will learn to use a broad edge pen to form the letters while learning the history of these Italian letters and why they are still popular today. Participants will also use a mono-line pen and practice connecting these letters to form a nice cursive writing system.
Materials will be supplied.
There will be a break for lunch between the morning and afternoon sessions. Workshop participants can bring a box lunch or take-out lunch form one of local restaurants adjacent to the art center.
