Dream catchers are a widely recognized symbol of the Native Americans. The idea originated with the Ojibwe people, but eventually spread to other Native American nations. They were woven by mothers and grandmothers and hung above their children at night. The dream catchers were believed to catch the bad dreams in the web and allow the good dreams to filter through the center and slide down the feathers to the dreamer.
In this class you will learn the technique for weaving the thread through the hoop to create the beautiful web of a dream catcher. You will be shown how to add beads and feathers to finish off your unique dream catcher. We will also discuss some history of the dream catcher as we make them. All materials will be provided. This class will be held at Scatter Joy Center for the Arts.
